The Top Seven Hints Your Computer is Infected

How to Get Rid of Viruses

Is your PC infected with a virus? Don’t know how to get rid of viruses? Generally there are different clues which offer evidence that your operating system might have serious virus attacks such as poor system performance, web browser redirection and suspicious email activity. Viruses can open up doors to a world absolutely no person wants to explore and it's necessary to have an anti-virus program currently present on the OS. Let’s go over several warning signs which allow us to recognize a possible virus attack even without an an anti-virus.

1) Unresponsive Functions - If opening particular tasks provides no response, it clearly signifies there is a spyware infection that disables the performance of programs in normal mode. The more time a spyware or virus infects the computer, the more programs it's going to disable and make unresponsive until all applications stop running.

2) Illegal Bookmarks and Mysterious Links - The addition of bookmarks, favorites, and links which begin to appear in your web browser is usually a huge sign that spyware has infected your Computer. The spyware will make unfamiliar and mysterious links in the internet browser's favorites and bookmarks menu, simply clicking one of these brings about greater more serious issues. It's suggested then to run an anti-virus program to identify the spyware right away.

3) Suspicious Toolbars - One more integration of malware in your internet browser is that of toolbars. You might know of MSN, Yahoo, and Google toolbars that actually help, however the inclusion of certain suspicious toolbars in the web browser is a signal that some malware is logging your browsing history and sending these details somewhere else.

4) Email Bombs - These email bombs are one of the final clues that malicious software has taken over the computer. Lots (and I mean lots) of unrelated emails and explicit material inside your inbox, indicates that your system is seriously infected and needs a scan and cleanup. This actually works both ways; the emails don't just enter into your inbox but will also send out automatically to any or all of your email contacts therefore it is recommended to check your sent messages in such a case.

5) Bogus Warning Messages - While infected, the operating system begins displaying unusual and bogus warnings saying that the Computer is infected with spyware and it suggests using a particular anti-virus program to clean the PC from the infection. But, this anti-virus software is really a trick which furthers the problem with additional spyware to steal your personal information. None of these offers should be followed and should be responded by disconnecting the Computer from the internet and running an immediate scan preferably with an updated version of an anti-virus program. This symptom is serious and putting off cleaning at this point commonly leads to even worse troubles.

6) Browser Redirection & Pop-ups - A likely indicator that the PC is infected is the browser being redirected to an unrelated website that essentially wants you to download some software program or participate in a survey. When you enter a URL or go to a search engine, the exact same web page will pop up no matter what you type in. Pop-ups have a similar resulting effect. You might have proper browsing, but before long the internet browser opens a pop-up window which has explicit or unrelated material that you never requested or wished to open. Disconnect yourself from the net and run a thorough scan. NEVER click any of the pop-up windows, as it will only make the spyware threat escalate.

7) Slow System Performance - The most obvious factor that proves the system is infected is the slow performance of the OS; software programs open slower and perform slower also. Opening a Microsoft Word document could take 4 to 5 minutes and such, is a clear warning that your Computer is infected.
